Walking into the Little’s beautiful home in North Jackson, I felt instantly warmth and a feeling of welcomeness. Every corner was decorated beautifully, yet it felt clean and completely cohesive. I was met by Lisa’s kind greetings followed by Stephen’s. The first word that comes to mind to describe their space is thoughtful. It is clear upon entering their home they’ve created together that much thought went into it both by the couple and the Kelly Murray’s team of designers at Posh and Interiors, Inc, who helped make the Littles’ vision for the home come to life.

Third generation Jacksonian Hal Crocker has vision. After the tornado cleared out much of downtown Jackson in 2008, the city wanted redevelopment of the area. Hal Crocker joined with Henry Turley to form Healthy Community LLC to combine their mutual enthusiasm for downtown revitalization. The resulting Jackson Walk development is a community made healthy through well-planned, thoughtful development, where people live, work and play.

Curt and Erica King, Jackson natives, wanted to renovate a home in a French country style, while keeping a neutral palette with pops of colors and patterns. Many walls were knocked out in order to make a free-flowing space for their family to move around in and entertain their many friends. Curt works for King Tire Company on Old Hickory Boulevard where he is a third-generation operator and manager. Erica is the owner and operator of Erica King Interiors and prior owner of The Highland House Home Décor and Interior Design in Jackson. The home, which is exceptionally decorated at all times, is even more special during the holidays when Erica transforms the home into a wonderland for the eye.

Cole and Leigh Dodds have been married 13 years, and they have 2 boys named Will
and Walker. Cole is the General Manager of Southern Concrete and the current Tennessee Concrete Association President. Leigh is an RN and is a Patient Care Advocate for Intrepid Home Health.
The Dodds are also cattle farmers with Cole’s parents at South Oaks Ranch. They love spending time outdoors with their two sons. Cole enjoys hunting and farming with the boys, and they love to fish together as a family. Cole and Leigh also enjoy watching their boys play sports. With the help of Leigh’s father, they decided to build a southern home in the community of North Jackson that would not only fit their family’s needs, but display the memories of their families past and future.

Eddie Smith is a native of the Jackson, Tennessee area and Martina Smith was born in Flint, Michigan. Martina’s family moved to Jackson in 1983 when her father, John Elford, purchased Dixie Distributing Company in Jackson. Eddie and Martina have been married for 31 years, and they owned and worked hands-on Smith Remodeling Company for 21 years serving the Jackson and surrounding area. Eddie is an avid hunter and travels throughout the United States and Canada. He has met and made many cherished friends in his travels. Martina likes to travel with Eddie, but her passion now is her two grandsons, Parker Smith and Wyatt Muir. She loves spending weekends with their daughter, Erica Muir, and her grandchildren. They live in Murfreesboro and drive home every weekend so they can spend time together.

Newlyweds Jake and Karlie Carroll moved from Hardin County to Jackson for work. When looking for a home they sought to find something unique with a historical feel. Although the home they purchased is new, the downtown location gave it the older feel they were looking for.

Nestled among lush, green grass and stately oak trees and centrally located in the heart of North Jackson stands the barn of Flint Cox and Kelly Smith. Upon first arrival, one is immediately drawn to the tranquil sound of the beautiful waterfall and gated entry. Built for sharing memories and relaxing with family and friends, this is not only a barn but a home away from home.

Patrick and Michelle Just, who moved to Jackson from Louisville, Kentucky in 2014, sought to find a house with character and all the bones to allow them to make it their own. Patrick, CFO of Rough Country, and Michelle, instructor at Pure Barre, found the golden ticket with their 1800s-inspired house.

A young couple with modern ideas and old-school vibes decided to renovate a home built in the early 90s. Taking cues from their favorite fashion designers, Jamar and Crysta Hardiman turned the home into a modern oasis filled with nostalgic pieces and a comfortable environment in which their family could nestle.

Homeowners Greg and Allycin Alexander, graciously permitted me a tour of their lovely home for our first monthly No Place Like Home article. Their home is not only immaculately designed with one-of-a-kind furnishings and architecture but inviting without the least bit of austerity. In fact, when you first enter the home your eyes cannot help but glance around from the alluring artwork to the grand lighting and 19th century furniture in the foyer and formal living room.
