What is your hometown?

Born and raised in Jackson, I’ve lived within a 5-mile radius of the hospital where I was born and the church that I have attended my entire life. My mother grew up in the house across the street from me, my sister raised her kids down the street, and my brother lives within a few blocks. I graduated from USJ in 1990 and Rhodes College in 1994. I started my career in Nashville in a management training program at Union Planters Bank, moved back to Jackson, and eventually met a girl from out of town and convinced her to move to West Tennessee. My wife, Tausha, is from Bristol, which is far away. In fact, it is closer to drive to Canada from Bristol than to Jackson! Luckily, she said “yes,” and we have been married for 17 years, raising four daughters, Ridley (15) and nine-year-old triplets, Dorothy, Elizabeth, and Mary Harbert.

What is your profession?

I am a 3rd generation banker. I recently retired from the Bank of Jackson where I spent 21 years, serving as President for 19, until the bank sold in December 2025. My retirement, however, was short lived, as I recently joined Security Bank and Trust, a 125-year-old community bank that places great value on customer service and its employees. I am excited to help them move into Jackson and serve the community with values and banking principles that I believe in and have practiced my entire career.
My family is also involved in agriculture in Haywood and Madison Counties. Established by my great grandfather, continued by my grandparents and father, and now my sister, brother, and I continue the legacy. I love West Tennessee and its agricultural heritage and enjoy the tangible aspect of farming.

Where have you volunteered or contributed your time in efforts to give back?

Service was a trait exemplified by my dad, Harbert Alexander, Sr., and I am proud to carry on that tradition of service. I served as Chairman of the West TN Healthcare Foundation and have served on many other boards, including The Jackson Symphony, Greater Jackson Chamber, Jackson Downtown Development Corporation, Friends of Heart, and most recently, I became President of the Hollywood Cemetery Board where many members of my family are buried.
I have served as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church where my family has attended for five generations. My wife says that when the Mayflower was headed toward Plymouth Rock, they dropped the Alexander and Noe families off in the fifth-row pew on the left side at First Presbyterian Church, and they have been there ever since!

What is the last thing you Googled?

Summer-long, out-of-town camps for 9-year-old triplets!

Favorite place for going out?

We are ’01 people! It is where we live, attend church, and seek most of our food and entertainment. We love going to the Amp, and to the Farmers’ Market. We are excited about the new bakery that has opened downtown. We love Central Creek, Jackson’s Kitchen + Catering, Vicari, Rock‘n Dough, and Community Café. It is truly unbelievable what downtown has turned into in the last fifteen years!

What is one thing that you do not go a day without?

Talking to my mom, going to The Lift, and daily shenanigans with my girls.
