The Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame held the 31st annual banquet on the evening of April 7th. This exciting evening was to give recognition to many outstanding sports figures in our community.

The 2016 Hall of Fame Inductees included the following: Matt Abernathy, first JCS athletic college scholarship recipient and San Diego Padres draftee; Jimmy Carey, USJ coach who produced three state baseball titles; Jabari Greer, seven individual state track titles, U.T. walk-on football four-year player, pro football player 11 years and 2010 Super Bowl with New Orleans Saints; James “Bud” Sikes, football, basketball and baseball coach for 31 years, primarily at North Side High School; and Vic Wallace, coach at Lambuth University with 98-64-1 record, five Mid-South Conference championships. Jackson Engraving & Awards sponsored the Billy Schrivner Distinguished Service Award, which was in memory of Royce Askew. Recognition of all student athletes as well as Scholarship Award winners were also presented.
