The theme was “Feast in the Field” and guests entered through the Colonial Civil War home that was saved and moved from Trenton by the Shaw family. Though they endure the treatments personally, they have support groups who strive to relieve some of the daily tasks that currently are a burden they may not be able to handle. Boutiques which supported this important cause proudly donated money so a night of awareness could be made through a fun and fashionable way. Each boutique walked the runway to showcase their latest fall fashions and help encourage the survivors.

It was a furrific day for animal lovers/golfers to unite for a worthy cause. The third Monday in September has been the date for this annual fundraiser for 18 years as this is the last major fundraiser for the Jackson-Madison County Humane Society (JMCHS) each year.

Guests were treated to wine, moonshine and beer tasting and a coffee bar to complement the hors d’oeuvres. Multiple tables were filled with silent auction items and on the patio entertainment was provided by the Shifty Nixon Band. Thanks to all the people who gave of their time to organize this event.

He spent some time recognizing the 100-year history of the Jackson Rotary Club. The future of the organization and its goals were also discussed. Many Jackson Rotarians as well as members from other Rotary Clubs attended the celebration.

Read MoreR.L. (Buddy) Patey grew up in Tupelo, MS, but he has lived most of his 90 years in Jackson after service in the U.S. Air Force in World War II. Officiating football was Buddy’s passion. He worked more than 800 junior varsity, junior high and high school games, and more than 300 college games. He was chief umpire in both the Southeastern Conference and the Ohio Valley Conference.
