Union University’s 21st Annual Scholarship Banquet was held on October 21 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center to a sold-out crowd. Prior to a concert by MercyMe, Dr. Dub Oliver interviewed three Union students about their experience at the University. Student panelists were David Kagaruki, Binh Morris, and Anna Strand. The dominant point each made was the sincere attention the teachers provided to their students.

The multi-award winning Christian recording artist’s MercyMe was the highlight of the Scholarship Banquet. With each song the crowd got more into the music. “I Can Only Imagine” brought everyone to their feet. Songwriter and singer Bart Millard explained that each song he has written was during a time of turmoil and despair.

The annual Scholarship Banquet has become one of the premier events in West Tennessee.
